We make things that are specific— for a place, a person, a use. Not catalogue. Not committee.
Sutherland Studio is a one-bench practice making considered objects, furniture and small interiors. Trained in industrial design in Florence and now working out of a workshop in Auckland — pairing Italian discipline with the texture of the South Pacific. Every commission is drawn, prototyped and built by hand.
A piece begins with a conversation and a sharpened pencil. It ends on a truck headed across Tāmaki Makaurau — to a kitchen, a lounge, a café, a studio. In between: drawings, prototypes, steel that gets cut, oak that gets steam-bent, brass that gets polished. The fingerprints stay on.

For new objects, a 1:1 or scale model. For interiors, full set-out drawings and joints tested.
